Conditions: Aging and Aesthetics: Chin
The chin has a surprisingly large effect on the facial appearance, and the apparent size of the nose in particular. If the teeth are lining up properly, the problem may lie in the volume of bone at the chin.
“Weak” chin
A small, retruded chin can cause imbalance in the facial contour and can make even a normal nose appear too large. The images on the left differ only in the chin, but note the apparent larger noses with the smaller chins.
Marionette lines
Creases at the border of the cheeks and chin, going from the corner of the mouth down to the jawline, are called marionette lines. These pend to progress over time, and are related to melolabial creases and jowls.
