Conditions: Aging and Aesthetics: Forehead
There’s more going on with the forehead than might be apparent.
Glabella wrinkles (“frown lines” or “elevens”)
The vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows suggest an irritated, vexed state of mind, but these lines often appear when we are merely focused. They arise from a specific small but active muscle, named the corrugator supercilii.
Horizontal forehead Wrinkles
Wrinkles running horizontally across the forehead commonly appear intermittently in one’s twenties or thirties, but become a more permanent fixture in ones forties.
Brow descent (brow ptosis)
The forehead skin tends to relax downward with age, and the result on the eyes is profound. Not only does it make someone look tired, but the skin can block the upper field of view. To compensate, an individual will (often subconsciously) contract their forehead muscles, lifting the skin, but at the same time creating forehead wrinkles.
